Poinsettia

The Poinsettia is a flower that has been associated with Christmas tradition. Originating in Mexico where it's called "Noche Buena", meaning Christmas Eve. The plant's association with Christmas began in 16th century, when a poor girl was unable to provide a gift for Christmas, she took a poinsettia to church as her gift. The red color of the flower represents the blood of Christ and the star shaped blossom represents the Star of Bethlehem.
Poinsettias are popular Christmas decorations in homes and offices, it can be given as a simple gift during the Holiday Season.
Facts:
- December 12 is National Poinsettia Day
- Exposure to low temperatures even for a few minutes can damage the flower.

Santa Claus: Ho Ho Ho

I  am 27 years old and I would still like to believe that Santa Claus who is also known as Saint Nicholas lives in the North pole with Mrs. Claus and the Elves, checks his list of Naughty and Nice, receives millions of letters from children and sometimes from grown-ups from around the world and that he travels on Christmas eve, December 24, to deliver the gifts on his sleigh with his flying team of Reindeers; Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen coming down the chimney with his white beard wearing his red & white suit & black boots into the living room leaving the presents around the Christmas tree making sure to eat the cookie and drinks the milk.

The legend of Santa Claus dates all the way back to the 4th century when a child named Nicholas was born. Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor. As a grown-up he became bishop of Myra in Lycia, a province of the Byzantine Anatolia, now in Turkey. Nicolas had died in December, thus, it was now easy to associate him as Santa Claus with Christmas and gift-giving.

Christmas: History & Traditions

Christmas is a holiday where Christians commemorate the birth of Jesus.
Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem on December 25 what we know of Christmas Day, the word Christmas originated as a compound meaning "Christ's Mass".

Christmas is celebrated in different ways around the world, varying by country and region. But there are common elements that can be found anywhere in the world such as lighting of Christmas trees, hanging of wreaths, Christmas stockings & decorations, the creation of Nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus Christ, Christmas carols, presence of Santa Claus, sending Christmas cards, exchange of presents and going to the church for the midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.
